Shawn Matlock is a well-respected, successful, experienced, criminal defense attorney.  He has successfully defended those accused of crimes ranging from Driving While Intoxicated to complex, high-profile Murder cases.  Mr. Matlock routinely represents clients in both State and Federal courts, both at trial and on appeal.  However, unlike many in the field, he is not a converted prosecutor.  He is not a general practitioner of the law.  Shawn Matlock's entire career has been as a criminal defense attorney.

After graduating with honors from Texas Tech University and the University of Wyoming College of Law, Mr. Matlock began his criminal defense practice is Texas .  However, while still in law school, he learned from some of the very best in the field of trail advocacy.  Mr. Matlock was taught by the masters of trial techniques such as Gerry Spence and the late Johnnie Cochran.  He puts this unique experience to work on his clients' behalf everyday.

Mr. Matlock's practice is wholly dedicated to State and Federal criminal defense.  Whether it be successfully negotiating a dismissal with a prosecutor, defending a client against Murder charges, or arguing on a client's behalf before a United States Court of appeals, Shawn Matlock is dedicated to providing the very best representation possible for his clients.

Mr. Matlock has repeatedly been honored for his skills as a criminal defense lawyer.  While in law school being taught by the masters of trial advocacy, he was honored by induction into the Order of Barristers, the national recognition of superior trial advocacy.  Mr. Matlock was also honored by induction into the national legal honor fraternity of Phi Delta Phi; the same legal organization that includes as members several of the current United States Supreme Court Justices.  Additionally, Mr. Matlock was selected a member of the Land and Water Law Review, as well as publishing a scholarly legal article within the law review.

Mr. Matlock's recognition has continued throughout his career.  He has repeatedly been chosen by his peers as a Top Attorney in Fort Worth, Texas Magazine.  In addition, he was recognized by Who's Who in Legal Professionals for 2006-07.  Mr. Matlock is also involved as a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
